The setting of the book is mainly during the 20s in New York, and it is told by Nick Carraway, who is believed to come from a rich family who had come from combating in the war and was finding out to sell bonds (Fitzgerald, 3). This makes him move to the east egg, which is less developed in comparison with the west egg, which was opposite to Gatsby’s mansion.

On the belief, Gatsby is believed to be very rich, where he throws several great parties each weekend and the whole town attends. However, something unique about the parties is that Gatsby is never seen when holding the parties and is not recognized by any of the people who attend the party. Gatsby is believed to hold secrets about why he became so big; that’s why he does not want to be known.

Gatsby, on his side, tries to chase and control time, where he is working on beautifying his future through restoring his past (Fitzgerald, 12). Looking at the characters in The Great Gatsby, many of them have flaws and are not easy to sympathize with, and this is what makes the book interesting. Taking an example of Daisy Buchanan, Tom and Gatsby, who one will hate, but Daisy loves him. However, throughout the book, Gatsby proves to be great. In the book, the irony is that the rich are the ones that survive where the author takes readers through the cruelty, evil, and injustices of the world (Fitzgerald, 31). Where the rich are allowed just to continue being careless while the poor suffer the effects of their actions.

Gatsby is believed to have some history, which makes his life to be very private even from the people who come to enjoy his great parties. To try and have his life private, where he changes his life from James Gatz at the age of 17 at this age, he is believed to be wealthy, where rumors surround his wealth. However, Nick realizes that Gatsby worked for Dan Cody, who is believed to have made millions for killing.

The love story and triangle between Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby gets ugly when a discovery is made about the relation between Daisy and Gatsby, which does not make other people happy (Fitzgerald, 49). Trying and analyzing the different ways which bring out the association and behavior in terms of the various killings that take part in terms of the existing killings which on the larger end leads to several deaths.

The creation of love themes in the story brings about the drawing of various ways in which the reader can be in a position to alter association. In the book, women are described with words like a small-breasted, wherein reference to Tom; he has a mistress with whom he does not only hide her from the New York society but his wife (Fitzgerald,67). Nick also has an affair with a given girl at work, but he keeps the information about her and even the affair. On the other hand, Gatsby is believed to know women at an early age and is also known to despise virgins because they do not know the important things he wants.

In conclusion, looking at the different lives set in the book, then it can be considered as a depressing one because of several conclusions like those who dream, do not achieve their set goals, and even some end up losing their life goals. On a more significant extent, a character like Wilson loses his wife hence shutting down his dream of marriage. The author brings about a lesson about the various lessons that we should learn from the book, like dreaming about something that should not lead to despair but rather be realistic in life. However, he teaches that chasing unrealistic dreams will lead to challenges and tragedy.
